■ Investing in scrap

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a huge lot of "broken" electronics (mostly pre-2008 computers and servers) that I've been lazily yet steadily disassembling for spare parts.

Most of these individual pieces seem to work and will be stored for future use, those that don't will get their electronic components desoldered. I've been buying such lots for a while now, interestingly enough the contents of these batches are usually misdiagnosed PCs and the occasional old xbox with a blown capacitor or even working kitchen appliances such as microwaves that their previous owners simply discarded.

However, I've noticed that after 2015 or so, I stopped finding old "brickphones" among the scrap.
