■ Alone together

When society fails to provide relevancy to the individual, it encourages an antagonistic mindset that can't justify participating in the collective. By refusing to abide to the local ethics and standards, they are further isolated by the agreeable rest, who see such unstable cogs as a threat to the machine. Yet, outcasts can be observed in many species. It is not a phenomenon exclusive to man but rather the inevitable dualism of being free willed yet expected to will just like everyone else, for the good of the majority or so they are led to believe.

And so, by forcefully surrendering to the modern, unspoken social contract, one also forfeits a (potentially critical) part of his individuality, not to mention the opportunity to further develop one's psyche independently of our nature or nurture.
